Corporate Conferencing News

Imex and Wiesbaden 2015

Kirsty from Morris Conferencing recently visited Imex, an events exhibition in Frankfurt.  This lasted a total of three days and was the perfect opportunity for Kirsty to meet with many conference venue suppliers from all over the world. In preparation to the exhibition, Kirsty had organised eight appointments per day with various venues and locations, in order to increase her knowledge of the events industry. These appointments included Korea, Morocco, Slovenia, Portugal and many hotels based in the UK and Europe. The scale of the exhibition was beyond expectations. There were exhibition stands, after exhibition stands, presenting locations you would maybe not have even thought of recommending to your delegates! It was a great eye opener and a great place to broaden Morris Conferencing’s networking contacts.

Kirsty was a hosted buyer at Imex through Moulden Marketing. With this, Kirsty enjoyed her stay at the Movenpick Hotel Frankfurt City, conveniently located in the centre of Frankfurt, where a networking dinner had been organised. This was another useful networking event where Morris Conferencing was able to meet DMC’s and Venues from various places around the world, including Iceland, Dubai and Ireland. This event was very relaxed and was the perfect opportunity to learn essential information but to also have some fun.

Visiting Imex was an invaluable experience for Morris Conferencing In order to expand our industry knowledge. Kirsty has made precious links with many venue suppliers and destinations, which we hope to conduct business with in the future.

Following on from Imex, Moulden Marketing had organised a post tour to Wiesbaden, kindly hosted by the Wiesbaden/Congress Alliance. Wiesbaden is a small city located within 30 minutes drive, West of Frankfurt. When visiting this small city, we stayed at the Hotel Nassauer Hof. This beautiful five star deluxe hotel would be thoroughly recommended to any of our clients. The food, accommodation, staff and atmosphere were all fantastic. On the first evening, after dinner at the hotel, we visited the Kurhaus, an event venue which can hold up to 1000 delegates. A beautiful venue in the heart of Wiesbaden which also holds its own Casino for that extra bit of fun!

As Wiesbaden is a spa town, the next day we had a city tour and sampled some of the holy water from the hot springs. Although the water is said to improve your health, it certainly doesn’t agree with many people’s taste buds! However, the local cakes do, which we found out in a lovely local restaurant. Next we took the Neoberg Mountain Train to the Opelbad Neoberg where we had dinner looking at the views across the whole city. This would be a great location to impress delegates. There is even a large swimming pool, great for some leisure time.

We then made it to the Jagdschloss Platte, an old former hunting lodge that can hold up to 600 guests. Morris Conferencing thought this would be a great event location for a large gala dinner. As an added bonus, there is a fantastic viewing platform to look out across the city. Shortly after we viewed the Schloss Biebrich, a palace built in the 18th century which can hold up to 500 guests. The beautiful, traditional building would suit for any type of event. There are even large grounds to enjoy some team building activities.

Later on that evening, the group viewed three hotels within the city centre of Wiesbaden. Firstly, The Dorint Hotel, a five star property that can hold up to 440 delegates which is highly recommended for large meetings and conferences. Secondly, we moved on to the Crowne Plaza Wiesbaden, a very purpose built venue for meetings and will shortly be undergoing a renovation of the ground floor level. Lastly, we visited the Radisson Blu Wiesbaden, situated in one of the oldest buildings in Wiesbaden. This was a lovely traditional venue with a modern touch. There was practical meeting space and very luxurious bedrooms on offer.

After a good night’s sleep, the group just had one more visit to make. The famous Rheingau Wine Region! Here the group visited a former monks Monastery followed by some local wine tasting, including a mixture of dry, sweet and dessert wines. This was a very peaceful place to have an event and definitely recommended for the right client.

Overall, Kirsty had a great time exploring the beautiful city of Wiesbaden and making some very useful contacts along the way. Morris Conferencing hopes to attend Imex next year, to further our knowledge about the events industry.
