When arriving in Copenhagen, we began the trip by stopping for lunch at the Royal Opera House which gave amazing views of the nearby river and gave a truly unique setting which is perfect for private dinners and functions – especially the terrace outside in the summer time.
This was then followed by a canal tour which showed us many sites such as the Spires of Copenhagen, Christianshavn and Christiansborg.
We visited the Molktes Palǽ which is a converted mansion that has many meeting rooms and private dining areas for events. It has a very grand feel to it with many spectacular pieces of art work hung around the building.
The opening night of the MIND event was hosted by Bo Kruger, a well known speaker and facilitator, and guest speaker Dennis Normark who is an anthropologist amongst many other talents, this was held at the Tivoli Congress Centre. As delegates, we were given a real insight into how the Danish people operate and what their core values are in the work place and everyday life.
On Wednesday we first visited the Bella Sky hotel which is attached to the Bella congress centre which can hold up to 25,000 people, with the Sky Bar on the 23rd floor boasting an amazing view of the Copenhagen skyline. We had a ‘Mind the senses’ session which showed us how important our touch, smell, sight and taste senses are when it comes to keeping delegates interested and engaged in meetings and events. It was then on to the Crowne Plaza which was a short distance away from Bella Sky on the metro, the hotel is renowned for being the first hotel in Denmark that generates all of its power from renewable sources and is one of the leading hotels in the world. Even though the hotel is just out of the city centre, it is a 12 minute ride on the metro to the centre of town and the meeting room facilities it has to offer make it a perfect venue for a big meeting.
The group then had lunch at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Copenhagen who taught us all about brain food and how to apply this to meetings to help delegates integrate for longer at meetings and events. The buffet was served in small portions to ensure us as delegates were not too full to carry on at a high pace into the afternoon and evening.
Early evening we then had a session called ‘Meet the Danes’ which gave us the chance the experience how Danish people live, meet their families and try some traditional food and drink. It was then on to the Tivoli Hotel which is nestled by the stunning Tivoli Gardens for a traditional Christmas dinner. Delegates had many team building activities going on amongst dinner and the evening was ended by a rendition of ‘Wonderful Wonderful Copenhagen.’
The final day consisted of a Murder Mystery at the Marriott Hotel, Copenhagen which made for great team building and the whole group working together to solve the task. The Marriott has a huge ballroom that is perfect for conferences and events which give brilliant views of the nearby river. The group then had lunch at Toldboden which is a harbour eatery and grill which can also be transformed into a unique event space for events up to 300 people and was a short walk to the iconic Little Mermaid. The whole Mind event was a huge success and the organisation of the programme could not be faulted, the organisers kept us as delegates engaged and motivated throughout the whole of the three days and there was a real message behind the event. Copenhagen as a meeting and events destination is one that we would recommend as the travel times from the UK are good, the transport links in and around the city are brilliant and there are many sights and hotspots for delegates to discover. The meeting and venue facilities that Copenhagen have to offer are innovative and creative and are in many ways leading the way in terms of being environmentally friendly, reducing our carbon footprint and really getting the most out of meetings and events.
